MIL-SPEC
MONKEY, non regulation, moral patches.
First
off, MIL-SPEC MONKEY has been a supporter of NEMO Regional Training since
our beginning. That is NOT why I am writing this article. Although I would
jump at the chance to support my MONKEY (yes,
I just wrote that), I am however, going to provide a fair and
consistent review of his patches.
What
led me to find MIL-SPEC MONKEY in the early beginnings was the fact that
every guy on my SERT team was sporting a moral patch except for “yours
truly”. To be honest (not coming
from a military background), I was not even really sure what a moral
patch was other than the fact that most of them I had seen were funnier
than hell.
With
member patches like: Got MILF? BULLSHIT METER and FUN METER, I knew I had
to have one but was not totally certain as to where to begin looking? With
a Google™ search one evening for moral patches, I was directed to the
site, MIL-SPEC MONKEY (http://www.milspecmonkey.com/morale.html),
and a handful of others. After hours of surfing the various hits I
encountered, I opted to go with the MIL-SPEC MONKEY patches as the other
sites did not appear to be as high quality and were similar to the ones
wore by my SERT colleagues.
After
a few short days, my patches arrived in the mail and immediately, I
noticed a difference in these
patches from the patches I viewed my colleagues wearing.
With
a much higher image quality (tighter, higher stitch count), a professionally sewn and
strategically placed hook and loop on the rear, the MIL-SPEC MONKEY
patches had the look and feel of a traditional, high priced police patch,
which I have grown, accustom to.
After
browsing through and examining the various patches, I couldn’t wait to
place them on my ACU. Like a magnet to metal, as I placed the patches on
the arms of my ACU, it was immediately apparent that the hook and loop on
the rear of the patch was high quality. As I pulled the patch off of the
shirt, it took an “above average”, amount of force to remove it ( it
is obvious these were designed for some wear and tear).
With
patches like the MIL-SPEC MONKEY

IT! We’ll do it live (my
personal favorite) and TRUNK
MONKEY to name a few, the Monkey Made Moral patches are sure to
provide years of service at an affordable price. Not to mention some eye
catching looks!!
